Yes, a new 41mm size Submariner was introduced today, but do you think that’s the only trick the “Crown” has up its sleeve? What’s even more exciting is that Rolex has also announced a new range of Sky-Dwellers on the Oysteflex bracelet, available in both 18k yellow gold and Everose gold. In short, it’s the Sky-Dweller we all know, just with a different bracelet. Now, while “changing the bracelet” doesn’t seem like the most exciting thing in the world, these new watches look pretty cool.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the brand iterate on an existing model in this way. The Rolex Daytona was released on Oysterflex back in 2017, just like this new Sky-Dweller, but in precious metal. The Sky-Dweller, the brand’s most complicated timepiece, was previously available with both a leather strap and an Oyster bracelet, and now it’s part of the Oysterflex Folding Watch. One of the added benefits of the Oysterflex is the much-loved slide-lock adjustment system, which makes it easy to resize the bracelet on the fly.
Inside the watch are the in-house Rolex Caliber 9001, which made its debut with Sky-Dweller at Baselworld 2012, and features a blue Parachrom hairspring and a 72-hour power reserve, as well as powering the watch’s dual time zone and annual calendar functions.
It should be noted that the watch is called an Oysterflex bracelet, rather than a rubber strap. This is because, unlike a rubber strap, the Oysterflex is more like a bracelet. As the name suggests, it consists of a flexible metal blade made of titanium and nickel alloy. The blades are coated with a high-performance black elastomer that is extremely durable. The bottom of the bracelet has longitudinal cushioning to help improve comfort and wearability.
Given that this is an iteration of an existing model – an update, if you will – the watch maintains its 42mm size. Additionally, it continues to have a rotating fluted bezel for setting the watch with the Ring Command system. As mentioned earlier, the Sky-Dweller variants receiving this new update come in a variety of colors: three dial colors in yellow gold and three dial colors in Everose gold. These new fake Rolex watches, as well as the entire new Rolex stable of releases, will arrive at authorized dealers.
